The concrete are classify into different grades and types on the basis of their mix design and the ingredients added to the concrete. The strength of the concrete may also vary from every type of the concrete. The different types of concrete are used at different types of construction according to their need of strength. Here we describe about few types of concrete.
High Strength Concrete:-
It has a high compressive strength greater than 40Mpa. High strength concrete is made by lowering the water-cement ratio.Silica fume is also added to the mix to prevent the formation of the free calcium hydroxide crystals which reduce the strength of concrete.
For High strength concrete
mixes the aggregate used should be carefully selected. Because, the aggregate should pocess high strength. The High Strength concrete are used in important buildings, defence buildings, bridges,etc. where strength of the building should be very high.
Vacuum Concrete:-
It is made by using steam to produce a vacuum inside a concrete mix to release the air bubbles inside the concrete. The steam displace over a concrete. When the steam condenses into the water it create the low pressure in the concrete to pull the air from the concrete. But the mix of air should be monitored carefully.The density of the vacuum concrete is about 20%. It is highly resistant to abrasion.
Previous Concrete:-
This type of concrete contains a number of holes or voids to allow air or water to move through the concrete. This concrete allows the water to drain through it.comparing other types of concrete previous concrete only allows the water to drain through it. This type of concrete are preferred to use in the parking area and the walking path of the residential areas and office buildings. It can help full to increase the ground water by allowing the waste or rain water into the ground.
Glass Concrete:-
The use of recycled glass as aggregate in concrete. The design of glass fiber concrete pocess the basic properties under tensile,compressive,bending, and shear forces.
Polymer Concrete:-
Concrete is porous, the porosity is due to air voids and water voids. Due to porosity the the strength of concrete is reduced. The reduction of voids will increase the strength.
Ready mix Concrete:-
Ready mix concrete has cement, aggregates, water and other ingredients which are weigh-batched and mixed at a plant and delivered to the construction site. The ready mix concrete will free from dust and other impurities. so it will be in high quality compared with the concrete mixed in the construction site. The ready mix concrete will be sold in volumes.
