Rain Water Harvesting

Rain water is the pure water obtain from nature by the evaporation process. The earth has 75% water but the drinking water in the earth is only 2.5% , the ground water is 1.7%. But the fresh water is also not able to use completely due to the water pollution and salt water intrusion. The water from sea, oceans , lakes , rivers, etc. Get evaporated and transfer into the rainy clouds. These clouds provide the rain. The water obtain from the rain is very pure. It can be used for drinking, agriculture and other purpose for a period of time if these rain waters are saved in the proper way to use for further.
The methods used to capture and storing rain water for further use is called rain water harvesting.
We should save rain water for the following reasons:
*To meet the increasing demand of water.
*To raise the ground water level.
*To reduce the surface runoff loss.
*To increase hydrostatic pressure to stop land subsistence.
*To reduce storm water run off and soil erosion.
         *To avoid floods.

*To increase the standard of living of people.
*To increase the availability of water from wells.
*Further generation is assured of water.

Before adopting the rain water harvesting method, the soil characteristics, topography, rain fall pattern and climatic conditions should be understood. The most common method of rainwater harvesting is Roof top rainwater harvesting.
Roof top rain water harvesting is the method of collecting rain water from roof top of the building and storing it in the ground for the future need.
Rain water that falls on the roof of the house during the rain are convey through the PVC pipes or Aluminum pipes to the nearest storage tank or into the ground. Which can be later used for several purposes. Also it can be used to recharge underground aquifers by diverting the water from stored water to dug well or borewells.
This method is suitable for all type of roof(Flat,Pitched, etc). This method can be successfully used in all buildings.
