                      Have you ever gone to a home improvement store like Home Depot (HD) or Lowe's (LOW) for a bag of concrete? Lugging the heavy bag home, mixing it and hopefully not creating an enormous mess is usually how the process goes.
But it doesn't have to be that hard. Curren Krasnoff, co-founder of Cortex Composites, has developed a product that allows users to unroll concrete like a roll of carpet.
                The fabric-like material only needs to be hosed with water, before it begins to transform into concrete. No mixer, no contractors and no pain. The product is perfect for patios and driveways, he added.
"I saw this opportunity to make something that replaces cement trucks," he explained. And the company is already gaining solid traction, securing over $20 million in in contracts for future orders. The company expects to begin manufacturing in January.
Surprisingly, the company raised less than $1 million in funding for its product. That's because the orders that have come in to date provide ample funding to begin production without a great need for chasing new funding, Krasnoff said.
In the end, Krasnoff is aiming to deliver a solution that could be much easier for homeowners and contractors, making it an attractive product for big-box retailers like Home Depot and Lowe's. Cortex Composites is still in its early days, but it could significantly change the concrete landscape.
