Scaffold Terms

        Baseplate:- Used to spread the load from standards and rakers.
        Standard:- A vertical tube
         Ledger:- Horizontal tube which supports the transoms.
        Putlog:- A tube which a flattened end which rests into or on the brick work.
        Brace:- A tube fixed diagonally across the scaffold.
        Plan Brace:- Keeps scaffold in plan.
        Raker Spur:- An inclined bearing tube.
        Puncheon:- A standard not supported on the ground.
        Tie :- A tube fixed to hold a tube.
        Reveal tie:- Tube wedge into openings in the buildings.
         Needle:- A horizontal cantilever tube.
        Butt:- A short length of tube
